Malibu Retreat
A remote-design weekend house above Point Dume — planned by the studio, installed by the clients, finished with a styling visit.

The brief
Out-of-state clients with a Malibu weekend house they could rarely visit. They wanted the studio eye but the freedom (and budget) of doing the install themselves. Proof that e-design can carry a whole home.
The move
We delivered a complete, shoppable plan room by room — palettes, to-scale layouts, product lists, and renders — and the clients installed it over two trips. We flew out once at the end to style the last layer and set the photographs.
The result
A whole weekend house, designed remotely, that reads as collected as anything we install ourselves.

A bleached, salt-and-sun palette of plaster, rattan, and washed oak.

Indoor-out furnishing that takes the marine air and the kids.

Terracotta and white oak, kept simple for a house used in bursts.

A linen-soft room for the weekend crowd, planned to the inch from afar.
What it’s made of.
“We were nervous designing a whole house over email. It looks like they were standing in the room. We tell everyone.”Malibu Retreat · 2024
