Venice Bungalow
A small 1920s craftsman near the canals, made to feel generous through restraint, texture, and one honest material at a time.

The brief
A young family in a 1,650-square-foot Venice craftsman that felt smaller than it was. The brief was about generosity, not size: a home that breathes, holds a kid and a dog, and never feels precious.
The move
We resisted the urge to add and instead edited — one honest material per surface, soft plaster, vintage rugs, and built-ins that bought back every inch. Texture does the heavy lifting where square footage can’t.
The result
A small house that lives twice its size, and a family that stopped talking about moving.

Vintage rugs, soft plaster, and built-ins that buy back every inch.

A round oak table that seats a crowd and never blocks the path.

Open shelving, terracotta, and a window made wider to pull in the canals’ light.

Quiet, washable, and built to grow up — nothing precious.
What it’s made of.
