Pasadena Craftsman
A landmark Greene-and-Greene-era craftsman, restored with reverence and brought gently into the present.

The brief
A historic Pasadena craftsman with extraordinary original millwork and a kitchen from 1985. The clients wanted to honor the house, not embalm it — original where it mattered, modern where it had to be.
The move
We restored the original oak millwork and leaded glass, then designed new work — a kitchen, baths, lighting — that speaks the same language without pretending to be old. Deep olive and warm neutrals keep the heavy wood from going dark.
The result
A landmark home that earns its history and still has a dishwasher that works.

Restored oak millwork and leaded glass, lit properly for the first time in decades.

Original built-ins, a new palette of olive and warm neutral to lift the wood.

New cabinetry that speaks craftsman without costume; soapstone and brass.

A reading room rebuilt around the family’s books and a deep-olive settee.
What it’s made of.
“They treated our house like it mattered — because it does. It feels restored, not renovated. There’s a difference.”Pasadena Craftsman · 2022
